Integrating Sustainable Water Resources Management Practices into Public University Administration in Lagos State, Nigeria: A Multi-Variable Analysis

Abstract
This research study investigated the integration of sustainable water resources management practices
into public university administration and the factors that impact their successful implementation in
Lagos State, Nigeria. The study utilises a multi-variable analysis approach, incorporating three key
variables: educational administration and management, water resources management, and
sustainability. The study incorporated desk review method to evaluate existing research on
sustainable water resources management in universities. The study contributed to the growing body
of knowledge on sustainable water resources management in public universities in Nigeria and
provide practical recommendations for university administrators and policymakers on how to
integrate these practices into their institutions. Findings showed that effective integration of
sustainable water management practices is dependent on the development of clear policies, effective
communication and collaboration between stakeholders, and the availability of financial and human
resources. Challenges such as inadequate funding, limited stakeholder engagement, and poor
infrastructure are also identified as barriers to the successful implementation of sustainable water
management practices. The findings of this study have implications for university administrators and
policymakers seeking to promote sustainability in public universities in Nigeria and other similar
contexts.
